We’re CELBRATING 2 YEARS OF SERVICE!!! Wohoo!!! On August 13th, 2010 Forever Fed hosted our first block party at Canton Adventist Church on Scott Mill Road in Canton and it was a party, indeed! The enormity of what began that day continues to overwhelm both myself and others today and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. Our leadership of seven dedicated servants decided from the beginning that we’d serve meals when we promised to serve them regardless of weather. God … [Read more...] about Celebrating BIG this Saturday!!!
I’ve spent much time in the last few weeks investigating and researching all sorts of “stuff,” that I think I need to know. In the mornings I turn on the television and do a “quick check” into Facebook which leads me to everything from reading political posts to looking at the vacation pictures of friends. Sometimes my friends Facebook posts direct me to Pinterest. I then get lost in fun things on Pinterest and pretty soon the texting with other friends starts on my … [Read more...] about The Jesus in Me
Are you looking for something fun to do for the summer? Well Forever Fed has just the thing for you AND your kids! During the summer months children who normally receive subsidized lunches at school often go without proper nutrition because they live in food unstable homes. This is where Forever Fed kicks in! Our goal is to grasp every opportunity we can to increase our serve so these precious kids are well fed because proper nutrition is essential for growing minds and bodies! As a result … [Read more...] about Free Community Building Activities for the Summer!
It’s like a “Graduation Explosion” at my house this spring. Our twin boys are graduating from College and our daughter is about to graduate from High School. For my husband Bob and I, this means in a very short while we’ll be empty nesters. It’s a difficult season of letting go. I keep reminding myself that this is truly a season of celebration and new beginnings for us all. This morning I gave thanks to God for our blessings. While my Husband and I have made … [Read more...] about The “Not so Empty Nesters”
When you are a food ministry people donate all sorts of food to your organization. Sometimes that means Forever Fed get miscellaneous cans of soups and smaller items that we really don’t use while preparing meals for 100+ people at a time. So we put them on a storage shelf and just keep them for a rainy day. About once a month we get an “emergency call” about a family who needs food. Delivering boxes of food to individual families is not really what Forever Fed does. We … [Read more...] about Bringing Light with Odds and Ends
About 2 weeks ago I ordered 24 boxes of Red Velvet Cake mix from the Atlanta Food Bank for making cupcakes for our Kid's Bible Club Event in February. The large box containing the cake mixes got placed on the storage shelf without further thought until yesterday. I spoke with Lorraine Rose (she's in charge of the meal at Kid's Bible Club) and she asked me "So how many boxes of cake mix are there?" and of course, I didn't remember and told her I'd get back to her with a count. Today I made … [Read more...] about God Knows We Need Before We Do!
The Hopton family has joined forces with Forever Fed, all seven of them! This family is volunteering at the Scott Mill event we hold on the second Saturday of each month and we are so very blessed by their participation! Thank you Hoptons for your willingness to serve and share your testimony. … [Read more...] about Interviewing the Hoptons
We've been serving meals monthly to Kid's Bible Club in Woodstock since August 2010. Last night I saw a little girl I first met in the Pre-K room last year, her picture is one of the many on our promotional video on our website. She passed me in the hallway with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step on her way to her classroom. The memory of her smile and 'bouncy Kindergarten Girl' walk warmed my heart all night long. This child radiated happiness and … [Read more...] about Does She Know?
On Monday, September 19th, I took a long walk on the beach to just "think". We were on vacation at Murrel's Inlet, SC. This was days before our vacation tragedy. I was working out a few events in my life and trying to make sense of senseless things. The only thing that comes of that is frustration and a few tears. So I sent a haggard prayer up to God and asked once again, "Lord, teach me your lessons today so that I might walk through this valley and be wiser on the other side" and just kept … [Read more...] about The Crab
Over a year ago Forever Fed began serving a monthly meal to the residents of the Scott Mill Neighborhood because we identified that area as being impoverished and “in high need”. We partnered with Canton Adventist Church and decided Forever Fed would provide the meal and they would provide the use of their Church Campus, and desserts. One year later we are still working together each month to meet the needs of our neighbors. In fact, since that time another congregation has … [Read more...] about See the Need, Meet that Need.
